Bitpay has recently partnered with a Canadian luxury fine jewellery brand named Birks Group, in order to process bitcoin transactions of the jewellery brand. The association hints the first significant implementation of Bitpay’s PoS solution for brick-and-mortar locations in the Canadian region.

Birks group has decided to accept cryptocurrency in terms of payments in eight stores across the country. Birks Group is an established jewellery brand in Canada since 1879. By choosing crypto, the brand is contributing towards the potential digital revolution. With this, crypto-enthusiasts can now buy silverware, timepieces, and fine jewellery with BCH and BTC from 8 selected Birks Group locations in Canada.

On this, Jean-Christophe Bédos, President and Chief Executive Officer of Birks Group stated “It is of great significance to Birks Group to launch BitPay. As an internationally growing brand, we believe that BitPay will benefit our customers as we look to align ourselves with these innovative capabilities that are at the forefront of technology.”



Additionally, Sonny Singh, Chief Commercial Officer of BitPay expressed his views about Birks Group stating, “Birks Group has a large number of international shoppers so allowing them to pay in bitcoin makes perfect sense. Accepting bitcoin helps Birks Group to cater to their high-end international clients and get new customers while providing an innovative and safe payment option.”

Singh believes that the global bitcoin payment will give Birks Group a full spectrum of options for accepting blockchain payments, from direct point-of-sale integrations to the web and mobile-based apps.

The Bitcoin network enables large amounts of transactions to be transmitted across the world. This makes an excellent advantage for luxury brands. Previously, A high-end jewellery company in Amsterdam, Ace Jewelers Group also collaborated with Bitpay in 2016.

Moreover, Bitpay currently operates in North America, Europe, and South America with more than $70 million raised from investors. BitPay’s processing system is aimed to provide faster and easier transactions as compared to the fiat systems.
